One of the often forgotten tasks when using a vacuum pump or vacuum system is to
change the oil on a regular schedule. This is especially true in Research Laboratories
where the researchers are much more involved with their research than in looking after
routine maintenance on the equipment in the lab. Vacuum pumps are often placed under
the fume hood and out of sight, and oil changes can easily be missed.

We can visit your Laboratory on a 3 or 4 month schedule and change the oil in the vacuum
pumps used in your wet chemistry or other vacuum applications for you.
The vacuum pump oil is changed, the vacuum pump is checked over for correct operation,
any leaked oil is cleaned up and the pump is wiped down. If you do not have oil disposal
containers at your site, we will take the dirty oil away and dispose of it safely. Other
maintenance such as oil mist filter element changes can be carried out at the same time if
those accessories are mounted on the vacuum pump.
Many wet chemistry vacuum pumps are exhausted into a main exhaust duct system, but we
recommend that each vacuum pump also has its own oil mist filter. If oil mist is exhausted
into the common exhaust ducting there could be an accumulation of condensed oil on the
inside of the ducts. This is a fire hazard. Using oil mist exhaust filters greatly reduces the
chance of this hazard occurring.
